|
Local residents joined senior police officers to discuss the future of policing in Enfield, in one of London’s most engaging community crime-fighting events to date.
Senior figures from the Metropolitan Police, including Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ben Russell, and local leadership teams were present.
Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley opened the event with a short video presentation followed, illustrating how various Met departments and specialist units work across London to respond to community priorities and concerns.
Commissioner Rowley discussed community crime fighting, cultural change, and the Met’s ongoing efforts to “fix our foundations. He highlighted key areas of progress, including:
Increasing representation among female and ethnic minority officers. The launch of the London Race Action Plan. Live facial recognition technology.
The murder rate is now at its lowest in five years. Injuries from violence have declined more sharply than in any other UK city. 81% of Londoners agree that the Met is doing a good job.
